Formative Instructional Practices

Are you ready to change the instructional culture at your school, but don’t know where to start?

Why are Formative Instructional Practices relevant to Irish Education?

Formative instructional practices (FIP) are the formal and informal ways that teachers and students gather and respond to evidence of student learning. With these practices, teachers use tools, strategies, and resources to determine what students know, identify possible gaps in understanding, modify instruction, and actively engage students in their learning.

In collaboration with national education experts, Battelle for Kids developed a blended learning experience that Irish educators can personalize with modules, resources, and supplemental materials, to discover the power of formative instruction to increase student achievement.

FIP are not a trend. Research shows that integrating these components into daily practice can increase student learning and teacher effectiveness. Learn more
